Why Many Pitches Don't Get Read

A brand manager reviewing many creator pitches is scanning, not reading. Generic pitches — ones that could have been sent by any creator to any brand — tend to be passed over quickly. The pitches that get read are specific: they answer the question the brand didn't ask, which is why this creator, for this campaign, for this brand, right now?

The Structure of a Pitch That Works

Sentence 1: The Audience Match

Lead with why your audience is the right audience for this specific brand. Not your follower count — your audience profile. "I create skincare content for working women 25–35 in Tier 1 cities" is more useful to a brand than "I have 85K followers."

Sentence 2: The Proof Point

One data point that demonstrates you can deliver. If you have completed Barter++ campaigns on GigTryst with conversion data, reference it. If not, engagement rate on a relevant piece of content is useful: "My last beauty tutorial reached X% engagement." Use real numbers you can verify — avoid estimates or inflated figures.

Sentence 3: The Angle

One sentence on how you would approach this specific campaign. What creative hook would you use? What makes your version of this story different? "I'd frame it as my honest first-week diary — my audience responds to real timelines, not launch announcements" tells a brand you've thought about their brief specifically.

Sentence 4: The Proposal

A specific deliverable and rate. Not "please let me know if you're interested." Something like: "I'm proposing one Reel and two Stories at ₹X with a 7-day delivery window." Specificity signals professionalism.

Templates by Situation

Template A: If You Have Affiliate Conversion Data

"Your [product] targets exactly the audience I cover — [audience profile]. My most recent affiliate campaign in this category achieved [X]% conversion on GigTryst, suggesting meaningful purchase intent among my audience. I'd approach this as [specific angle]. Proposing [deliverable] at [rate] with [timeline]."

Template B: If You Have Strong Niche Engagement

"I've been covering [specific niche] for [duration] — my audience is [demographic profile]. My recent [relevant content] reached [X]% engagement. I see a clear angle for [brand's product] as [your creative hook]. Happy to discuss [deliverable] at [rate]."

Template C: If You're Building Your Track Record

"My content focuses specifically on [hyper-specific niche] — [audience profile]. I'm building my track record on GigTryst and would propose a Barter++ structure so you pay based on the results my content actually drives, not just on reach. Happy to start with a smaller scope to demonstrate fit."

Note: Template A requires completed Barter++ campaigns with conversion data on your profile. If you are new to the platform, Template C is the most appropriate starting point — it is honest about where you are and proposes a structure that aligns both parties' interests.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Opening with follower count — lead with audience quality and relevance, not size
  • Listing everything you cover — "beauty, food, travel, fitness" tells a brand you're for no one specifically
  • Saying "I would love to collaborate" — this is in every pitch and communicates nothing specific
  • Leaving rate out — "please share your budget" puts unnecessary work on the brand
  • Using "application" or "applicant" — on GigTryst the standard is to pitch for a collaboration, not apply for a gig

The application cap on GigTryst: Brands can set a pitch cap — typically up to 25 pitches per gig by default. This means your pitch competes with up to around 25 others, not an unlimited pool. A specific, well-structured pitch matters more than speed alone.
